Capital Hotels & Resorts: R24.38 back for every R1 spent on TikTok Ads

Capital Hotels & Resorts welcome guests to hotels and apartments across South Africa, from city stays to resort escapes. Syte runs TikTok Ads for the group, and since the start of July the channel has returned R24.38 in tracked booking value for every rand spent: 130 website bookings at R230.15 each, from clicks that cost R0.46.

  • R24.38 Back for every R1 spent on TikTok Ads
  • 130 Website bookings tracked by TikTok
  • R230.15 Cost per booking
  • R0.46 Cost per click
  • 5.92% Click-through rate

Why TikTok for a hotel group

Hotel rooms sell on sight. Short-form video shows the room, the pool and the breakfast table the way a search result never can, and the audience scrolling it every evening is exactly the audience planning a weekend away. TikTok's auction is also far cheaper than search for these moments of discovery, so attention costs a fraction of what the same traveller costs on Google. For a hotel group, every booking that lands on the brand's own site instead of an online travel agent keeps the commission as well.

The numbers

Between 1 July – 26 October 2026 the account served 1 092 350 impressions and earned 64 718 clicks — a 5.92% click-through rate, where a strong paid social campaign usually sits around 1%. Each click cost R0.46, at a cost per thousand views of R27.39. Those clicks turned into 130 purchases on the website, which TikTok values at R729 463,08. Measured as purchase value divided by spend over the same period, that is a R24.38 return on every rand invested, and the cost per booking worked out at R230.15.

How the account is structured

A dedicated conversions campaign carries the budget and produced the bookings, clicking through at R0.55 each. Alongside it, a traffic boost campaign bought attention at R0.23 per click, keeping the hotels in front of travellers at the cheapest price the auction allowed. Seasonal boosts — a spa push and the December holiday run — sat alongside these without disturbing the measurement, so the always-on conversion engine stays readable while the brand chases moments.

What these results measure

Figures come from the TikTok Ads account for 1 July – 26 October 2026, using TikTok's own pixel and conversion tracking. Purchases are the website bookings the platform measured over that period, and the return on ad spend compares TikTok's tracked purchase value with the spend in the same account. They are platform-measured figures rather than an audited financial report.
